As most of you know, Brett and I are patiently and/or impatiently making our way through the pre-baby bucket list. Last year I surprised Brett on his birthday with a trip to see The Tonight Show (team CoCo for life) and we ecstatically crossed number 10 off our list. Not to be outdone, Brett planned an equally exciting pre-baby bucket list trip for my birthday—Cirque du Soleil!

We spent a lovely weekend in Los Gatos, which might just be the cutest town you’ve never discovered. Until now, because I just told you. We stayed at Hotel Los Gatos and dined at I Gatti, which were both fabulous. (secret: I may or may not have a lovely JDV discount to share with my friends if any of you are interested).

And then? Showtime!

First thought: WOW. Second thought: HOW? Third thought: I want to start taking gymnastics so I can do .08% of what these creatures can do.

It was amazing. Like, jaw-hitting-the-floor-are-these-people-even-human(?)-amazing. The level of flexibility, agility, and balance that each person possessed was enough to make you want to master yoga immediately. My favorite part? The men/”crickets” falling from the sky, bouncing/flipping off a trampoline into the air, and landing perfectly positioned on a rock wall. No joke. It made me want to buy a trampoline. And a rock wall. And a green leotard. Needless to say, they received a much-deserved standing ovation.

For those of you keeping track, number 8 has officially been crossed off our list (hooray!).

Now, who’s ready for Greece? ;)

p.s. Cirque du Soleil is coming to Sacramento in June and we miiiiight be going again. Consider yourself invited.

As some of you may remember, I recently published our pre-baby bucket list.

And, I am proud to report, we have officially crossed ONE item off of our list!  Future grandparents, please contain your excitement—there are plenty of items left.  My dear sweet husband recently turned twenty-eight years young, which naturally called for a celebration of the surprise variety.

Last Tuesday morning went a little something like this: alarm buzzes. snooze. alarm buzzes again. snooze. wait, don’t snooze! GET UP. whisper “happy birthday” to sleeping prince and kiss his forehead. sneak downstairs to make french toast (his favorite) while setting up birthday clues across the breakfast tray. finish french toast. add syrup and powdered sugar. contemplate adding other exciting features and/or a hot beverage. too late. no time. assemble tray to look as impressive as possible in two minute timeframe.

“birthday boy! sit up in bed and close your eyes!!!”

birthday boy scrambles to follow directions. tip-toe back into bedroom and carefully place breakfast tray on birthday boy’s lap.

“open your eyes birthday boy!!”

stand. watch. smile as he smiles. click.

Here’s to you, Mr. Gadd.  May your twenty-eighth year on this earth be full of love, life, and laughter.  I hope the next twenty-eight are just as joyful.  And the twenty-eight after that, and the twenty-eight after that.

I love you with all my heart, and always will.

For those of you keeping track, #10 on our pre-baby bucket list now looks like this:

10. Be an audience member at the Tonight Show

Can’t wait for us to cross off another.  Hope hubby is ready for Greece, because I know I am.
