{travel journal excerpt}
As I sit here quietly watching the waves tumble on the shore, I wish I could capture this exact moment of intense beauty and share it with the people in my life who don’t believe in God. Right now I can see four distinct shades of blue between the tide and the clear sky above me and I am overwhelmed with certainty that only my Creator could create something so magnificently beautiful.
Santorini is perfect. It’s better than the postcards. As thankful as I am to carry my camera in my hands, these photos are a pale comparison to the flutter of my heart as I see this island with my own two eyes. The beauty is indescribable. There is so much to see that I am convinced I could live here for seven years and never take the same photo twice. The sunset looks different every night. The church bells look different every hour, as the sunlight dances slowly across them. Every day is an opportunity to explore. To see. To worship. To feel the island. To be grateful.
Grateful for this place. Grateful for this trip. Grateful for eyes that see and legs that carry me up and down hundreds of white stone steps. But most of all, grateful for a God capable and willing to create it all in the first place.
